Are you looking for the best email hosting to create your own email address, such as [secure email]?
If you use WordPress hosting, your hosting probably already provides you with e-mail hosting. But if you are using managed WordPress hosting or cloud-based WordPress hosting, it is now very common for hosting providers not to offer their own email hosting services (because they prefer to focus on WordPress hosting rather than hosting email accounts).
This means you need a third party to host the mail, that’s what this mail is about. I just experienced it myself when I switched from SiteGround (which offers email hosting) to RunCloud-based Vultr-cloud hosting (which does not offer email hosting). I had to do some research to find the best email hosting for my own business address, and I will now share this information with you.
Top 6 Email Hosting Providers for WordPress users
1. Google Workspace (Suite G)
Google Workspace, formerly known as G Suite, is one of the most popular email hosting solutions. This is also what I personally decided after doing my research.
Google Workspace is certainly not the cheapest email hosting, but I was attracted by the experience, the ease of working and the fact that I can use Gmail without advertising my email. If you don’t like using Gmail, it’s probably not very advantageous, but I’m so used to Gmail that I really like it.
Of course there are free workarounds for using Gmail on another mailhost via POP3, which I did. However, setting up Google Workspace is much easier and does not depend on importing emails from another server. I also think it’s more reliable.
In addition to e-mail, you also have access to a number of other tools, including a separate repository/organization for :
You can also use Google Meet, chat, calendar and so on.
Overall, Workspace is a great option if you work in the Google ecosystem.
The only drawback is that it is slightly more expensive than other alternatives – plans start at $6 per user per month.

2. Hope of names
If you have a tight budget, Namecheap offers you one of the most affordable email hosting options. It doesn’t offer the same features as Google Workspace, but it gives you everything you need, including :
- POP3 and IMAP access
- SMTP
- Electronic mail
- Two-factor authentication
- Spam protection
The higher rates also include support for mobile synchronisation.
Namecheap plans start at $0.74 per month for your first mailbox and 5GB of storage. You can also add extra mailboxes for only $0.41 per month. If you want to try it out, there is also a free trial period of two months.
In general: If you only need a few email accounts and your budget is tight, take a look at that.

3. MXRoute
MXRoute is a great budget option if you need to host multiple email accounts. Instead of paying per account, you can pay a fixed amount for a certain amount of storage space with an unlimited number of domains and email accounts.
It supports all major email protocols and also gives access to some web applications such as Crossbox, Rainloop or Roundcube. Of course, you can also use SMTP, IMAP and/or POP3 to connect to your favorite email client (even the free version of Gmail).
All in all, if you need a mass email hosting solution, this is definitely a good solution to consider. Rates start at $40 per year for 10GB of storage and unlimited domains/email accounts.
They also offer reseller accounts, which can be useful if you want to sell email hosting to customers. These accounts include the integration of WHMCS.

4. Zoho Mail
Zoho Mail is the only provider offering free email hosting on this list, making it the best option if you have a $0 budget.
Of course there are certain limits to the free plan, but they are not too expensive. In particular, you can only access your e-mail via the web interface or the Zoho Mail mobile application – you cannot access it via your own e-mail program or the applications on your mobile device (although you can access it via the Zoho Mail application). Specifically, there is no IMAP or POP3 access in the free plan.
You also benefit from a generous 5GB of storage space and can have up to 5 users. All in all, it’s a surprisingly generous free option.
If you are willing to pay, you can get IMAP/POP3/SMTP access that allows you to use Zoho Mail with any email client. You also have access to more advanced features.
Paid plans are still quite affordable, starting at $1 per user per month.

5. Large Item
Greatmail is another solid option for mass email hosting at a great price. He has very reasonable rates for the bill. However, the minimum amount is $15 per month, which is a good option if you need more than 15 email accounts. If all you need is an email account, there are definitely better options.
With the standard version, you get a seamless email hosting service that provides all the technology you need to connect to your favorite email clients and mobile applications.
There is also an advanced level that supports ActiveSync and CalDAV so you can synchronize your calendars and contacts.
Greatmail’s basic hosting package costs only $1 per mailbox per month – but don’t forget that the minimum is $15 per month (for which you get 15 mailboxes).

6. Rack
Rackspace is another popular provider offering reliable email hosting at a price between budget options and Google Workspace.
There are different levels, with different functions in between. The cheapest level provides access to POP/IMAP/SMTP, as well as spam protection and a generous 25 GB of storage per mailbox.
Higher levels also offer advanced features such as ActiveSync, shared calendars, instant messaging and more.
Rackspace’s email hosting plans start at $2.99 per user per month and you can try them out for free. However, since there is a $10 account this is not the best solution if you only need a mailbox.

Which is the best email hosting provider?
Now let’s move on to the important question: who is the best email hosting provider in 2024 and beyond?
If you want my opinion on the best option in general, I suggest you use Google Workspace. Again, this is the option I personally chose after doing my research. It’s certainly not the cheapest option, but it just works and it’s convenient to have access to all of Google’s applications.
On the other hand, if you have a tight budget, consider Namecheap for a single email account or MXRoute if you need multiple email accounts for a great price.
If you absolutely need a free option, consider Zoho Mail – the only option that really offers free email hosting. Be aware of the limitations of the free plan – you can only send/receive e-mails via the web interface or the Zoho Mail application.
