Android solutions do not connect to Wi-Fi
Why can’t my Android phone/tablet connect to the Internet?
While there is no single reason why you have Wi-Fi issues on your Android phone, they can be categorized into 4 categories.
4 Possible causes :
- Network configurations such as IP address and DHCP.
- Software and firmware issues
- Passwords and wrong information
- Radio wave propagation: (WiFi is a radio wave that propagates in a straight line, it can be interpreted if you are far from the modem or behind discrete walls).
Solution 1: Turn on Wi-Fi
If you cannot connect or if the Wi-Fi connection is constantly interrupted, switching Wi-Fi connections has proven effective in many cases. Open your phone’s notifications area and find the Wi-Fi icon, tap it to turn it off, wait five seconds, then turn it back on. Let the phone search for available Wi-Fi connections and see if your issue is resolved. This simple trick works no matter what model you own. It fixed the Wi-Fi issues of the Samsung Galaxy S2, but it also fixed the Wi-Fi issues of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge for many users.
Solution 2: Change of flight mode
This is a solution that has worked for many users, so try switching to airplane mode. You can check the airplane mode in the notification area of your Samsung Galaxy phone. If you can’t find it, click on the icon that allows you to check all icons in the system tray and look for Airplane Mode. Turn it off, wait five seconds, then turn it back on.
Solution 3: Is Bluetooth turned on?
Bluetooth can cause a conflict with Wi-Fi, as some users have found that on some phones, Wi-Fi does not work when Bluetooth is turned on. If you have Bluetooth enabled on your Android smartphone, disable it in the notification area and then try using Wi-Fi again to see if the problem is resolved.
Solution 4: Energy-saving mode
The power saving mode is designed to help your battery consume less power. Since Wi-Fi is known to drain the battery quickly, it is usually turned off when power saving mode is enabled. Make sure the power saving mode is turned off. You can access the power saving mode from the Settings menu on your Samsung Galaxy phone.
Many users of the Samsung Galaxy S3 have reported that their device will not connect to a disconnected Wi-Fi and claim that this is due to a poor connection. It turned out that when the phone came out of sleep mode, power saving mode interfered with Wi-Fi and somehow disconnected it. The problem was in the software, so users had to turn off the power saving mode if they wanted to use a stable Wi-Fi connection.
Check if the power saving mode is causing a conflict in your phone to solve the Wi-Fi problem on your Samsung Galaxy device or any other Android device.
Solution 5: Forget all Wi-Fi networks and start again
A handy way to solve Wi-Fi problems, especially if you can’t connect to a network, is to clear all networks so that the Wi-Fi phone starts working again. But before you decide to proceed, make sure you have all the data you need to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network. This includes the network name and password required to connect to the network.
- Go to the phone settings menu
- Click on Connect
- Search for Wi-Fi and click on it
- All the Wi-Fi networks you have added to your phone are shown here. Tap each network name and select Forgotten.
After removing the networks, add the network you want to connect to by going to Settings and clicking Wi-Fi, then Wi-Fi Network. You will find the network you want to connect to, click on it, enter the password and you can connect.
Wi-Fi connectivity issues have annoyed many Android phone owners and we have received many questions from them, such as. B. How to fix the Wi-Fi problems of the Samsung Galaxy 2 and Samsung Galaxy S4. Some S7 and S7 Edge owners have also complained about connection issues on their phones, and this fix has solved the problem for a lot of Samsung Galaxy users.
Solution 6: All about passwords
Passwords are necessarily important because they are supposed to protect the network from unauthorized access. If you enter the wrong password, you will not be able to log in. Even if you know the password, you may enter it incorrectly. Make sure you enter the letters correctly and that the Caps Lock feature on your phone is turned on. The Samsung Galaxy S3 Wi-Fi verification error occurred when customers tried to connect to a network that used WPA2. However, the problem has been fixed by updates.
Solution 7: Are you connected to the right network?
You will often find that many networks have similar names. Make sure you are connected to the correct network, otherwise you will not be able to connect.
Solution 8: Smart Grid switch
Some Samsung Galaxy phones are equipped with Smart Network Switch, which means that if your Wi-Fi connection is unstable, the phone will automatically switch to mobile data and use your mobile data connection to transfer data. This makes it easy to forget about Wi-Fi issues, but if you don’t want to use a mobile data connection, turn it off. Many users who have complained about the constant loss of Wi-Fi signal on the Samsung Galaxy S5 have found this solution useful.
- Reduce the shadow of notifications
- Press the Wi-Fi icon to open the Wi-Fi settings menu.
- Now press More at the top right of the phone.
- A new field appears on the screen with detailed information about the smart grid switch.
- Press the Off button to stop using the Smart Network Switch.
Solution 9: Restarting the phone
Restarting the phone may solve some Wi-Fi issues. Press and hold the power button until the power menu appears, then press Restart. After a few seconds, your phone should turn back on. Allow the Wi-Fi connection and check that it works as expected.
Decision 10: Upgrade operating system
Operating systems should be updated regularly. Your Android phone will work better if the phone software is updated as soon as possible. Your phone’s Wi-Fi may not work due to a software error. When a company becomes aware of a bug, it releases a fix in an update. When the Samsung Galaxy S3 was still in its infancy, one of the most common problems users encountered was that their Samsung Galaxy S3 could connect to Wi-Fi, but not to the Internet. This solution has helped many users to solve the problem. It doesn’t just work on the S3, but many Samsung Galaxy users have reported that it works on their phones as well.
- To check that your phone is using the latest software, go to Settings.
- Tap the whole device
- Click Check for updates or Download updates manually. Depending on the phone you are using, you will find different options, but you should look for an option that allows you to check your phone for updates to make sure it is using the latest software.
Decision 11: Keeping Wi-Fi turned on during sleep
If you keep getting disconnected from Wi-Fi, check your Wi-Fi settings. One of our readers complained: My Samsung Galaxy S5 keeps losing connection and this solved the problem:
- Pull down the notification screen and tap the cog icon to open the phone settings.
- Now find Wi-Fi and click on it.
- Depending on your Samsung Galaxy phone or version, you may see different options. Click on the three dots in the top right corner or on the word More.
- Now find the Advanced option in the drop-down menu and click it.
- Under Advanced Settings, you will find the Keep Wi-Fi turned on when not in use option.
- You can choose from Always, Only when connected, and Never.
- Press Always to keep Wi-Fi always connected.
This can help resolve a connection error when the Wi-Fi connection is interrupted because the phone goes into sleep mode. This is helpful for many Android users who didn’t know that their sleep settings were affecting their Wi-Fi connection.
Decision 12: Restarting the modem
If all the devices connected to the modem do not work, it is advisable to reboot the modem. Follow the manual that came with the modem. Depending on the model and type of modem you are using, you may need to perform several steps. Restarting the modem may resolve Wi-Fi connection issues caused by problems in the modem.
If you find that rebooting the modem – (Read How to Reboot Your Modem on WikiHow.com) hasn’t solved the problem, check if you can connect to the network and use Wi-Fi from another device with the same modem. If all other devices can connect and use the connection without problems, you can continue troubleshooting the phone.
However, if none of the devices can connect, you need to troubleshoot the problem with your modem. To do this, you can call the modem manufacturer or follow the instructions in the modem manual.
Decision 13: Application by third parties
Some third-party applications may cause conflicts that prevent Wi-Fi from working as intended. Check if you have recently downloaded the application since the problem occurred. Once you’ve done that, check to see if the application has been updated. If the application has been updated and there may be a problem with the application, uninstall or disable the application and try using the Wi-Fi connection again.
When one of our readers complained that the Samsung Galaxy S4’s Wi-Fi wouldn’t turn on, he went through a number of troubleshooting steps before realizing that the problem was caused by a third-party app. To check if a third-party application is causing the problem, turn on the phone in safe mode.
- Press and hold the power button
- Then press and hold the stop button.
- You will be asked if you want to restart in safe mode.
- Tao OK
- Your device is booted in safe mode
- On the main screen, the words Safe Mode should appear in the lower left corner.
Try using the phone in safe mode and check if the Wi-Fi connection is working properly. If this is the case, the problem may be caused by a third party. You can then reboot the phone in the usual way to go to normal mode, and then check for updates to your applications. If all applications have been updated but the problem persists, remove the applications you think are causing the problem until the WLAN is working properly again.
Decision 14: Check the wireless router settings.
When my Android phone won’t connect to Wi-Fi, I usually think to check the settings of my Wi-Fi router – (Read the official linksys.com guide), I also use it because I might have locked the settings and ended up not being able to connect my phone to Wi-Fi. Make sure your phone has access to Wi-Fi and that your Mac address is not blocked, otherwise you will not be able to connect to the Wi-Fi router.
For more information, see http://www.linksys.com/my/support-article?articleNum=142912.
Decision 15: Date and time
If you travel often, especially between different time zones, you may notice problems with your wifi because of the date and time on your Android smartphone. This must match the date and time of the router you wish to connect to, otherwise you will not be able to connect.
Make sure the date and time on your phone match the date and time you are on. You can change this information by going to the phone’s Settings menu and then tapping Date and Time. Next, you need to change the date and time of your current location, and then try to connect to Wi-Fi.
Decision 16: Modem firmware upgrade
Some Wi-Fi problems on Android phones are not due to the phone, but to the router used to connect to the wireless network. It is possible that the router is causing the problem and a firmware update is required to resolve the issue. Check if your router’s firmware is pending and update it. You may need to follow the router upgrade instructions in the manual, or get help for your router online.
After updating the router, try reconnecting the phone to the Wi-Fi network to see if the issue is resolved.

Decision 17: Clear Wi-Fi Direct cache and data
If your Samsung Galaxy is unable to connect to the Wi-Fi network, one of the steps to solve the problem is to clear the Wi-Fi Direct cache and data. This solution works for all Samsung Galaxy phones up to the latest Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Deleting this data is not a problem because the phone automatically creates new cache files when the old ones are deleted. However, you run the risk of losing all the passwords stored there. So make sure you know the name and password of the network you normally connect to.
- Go to the settings menu of the phone.
- Connecting to applications
- Click on the application manager and find Wi-Fi Direct under Everything.
- Tap Wi-Fi Direct
- Click on Delete data and confirm.
- Click on Clear Cache and confirm.
Now restart your phone and try to use Wi-Fi. Check if the problem is solved.
Decision 18: Delete cache from Android phone
When Samsung Galaxy S5 users updated to Android Lollipop, many users reported that the Wi-Fi of the Samsung Galaxy S5 became slower after updating to Lollipop. This problem was solved by wiping the phone’s cache partition to create new cache files for the phone. If you are experiencing a similar problem when updating your phone, this solution may be helpful. Once the cache partition is deleted, new data is automatically created on the phone.
Clear cache on LG G5 / Clear cache on HTC ONE M9 / Clear cache on Nexus
- Turn your phone off.
- Press and hold the Volume Down and Home keys, and turn on the phone by pressing and holding the Power key.
- When the Android icon appears on the screen, release the power button, but hold down the other two buttons until the menu appears on the screen.
- Use the volume down button in the menu to highlight Clear Partition Cache.
- Now press the power button to confirm the selection
When the process of deleting the cache file is complete, return to the same menu. Use the volume keys to highlight System restart now, which reboots your phone and returns it to normal mode. Connect to Wi-Fi and check if it works. This solution has proven especially useful when Wi-Fi is not working after a recent update or when it is not working due to corrupted system cache files.

Decision 19: Restore Android device to factory settings
This last solution, but the most efficient for Android, does not allow you to connect to the Wi-Fi problem. If you reset the unit to the factory settings, it will return to its original state. This means that all data, including your downloaded applications, will be lost. Therefore, it is necessary to backup your data before performing the factory reset. On all Samsung Galaxy phones, the phone’s settings menu allows you to back up your data before restarting the phone. You can use the built-in backup option, or you can manually back up your data to a computer, or use an application.
After creating the backup, perform the following steps:
- Go to the Settings menu on your Android phone.
- Click on Backup and Reset. Depending on the version of Android you are using, you may see a similar option.
- Now tap Factory reset
- Press Reset Phone
It will take some time for the phone to be reset to factory settings and rebooted. Then try to check if your problem is solved after resetting to factory settings.

What should I do if the Wi-Fi connection of my Galaxy phone is too slow?
Slow connections can be very annoying. None of us use a Wi-Fi connection that makes us wait too long when it comes to opening websites or watching videos. Many ISPs blame this problem on peak times, when many people connect to Wi-Fi at the same time. This is due to Wi-Fi channels where most users are on the same Wi-Fi channel at the same time.
An easy way to solve such a problem is to use the Wi-Fi Analyzer application. It is available in the Google Play Store and is relatively easy to download and install. It analyzes the network and helps you determine which channel is best for you.
Slow WiFi issues are very noticeable with the Galaxy series, especially with the Samsung galaxy s5.
- See Decisions 18, 17, 16 and 13.
- Most users have solved the problem by updating the firmware on their device or modem.
- In most cases, a simple reboot of the router is sufficient. You can try to perform a hardware reset of the modem. Most modems work this way:
- Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds. Some modems require you to use a pin and push it in with some force.
- Unplug the modem and wait at least 5 minutes.
- Reload
If you try to connect to the modem from a remote location or behind discrete walls, it will not work. Note that these are radio waves propagating along a uniform and straight path. If two or more walls are blocking you, there may be interference with your waves.
Another solution for slow Wi-Fi
1. Download the DNS SET
application. 2. Go to wifi and forget your current wifi
3. Select your current WIFI and restart
. 4. Open the DNS SET application and select AUTO-RUN.
Why is my Android reporting a Wi-Fi authentication error?
What does the verification problem mean?
If you get the message wifi authentication error occurred, it simply means that the network configuration of your Android device doesn’t match or doesn’t match the router’s network. This could be
- You have entered the wrong password.
- Incorrect SSID (Service Set Identifier – Wi-Fi network name)
- Authentication or filtering by MAC address
- Unauthorized wireless security (WPA/WPA2/AES, TKIP)
- Incorrect radio mode (802.11a/b/g/n)
- Wrong channels
- Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
- Network address translation (NAT)
To solve these problems with wireless authentication
- Check the Wi-Fi password. Make sure Wi-Fi is visible when you connect to reduce possible errors.
- In most cases, your router will have a default SSID name, for example. B. Linksys, Netgear. If you have more than two networks with the same SSID, this can cause problems. On the other hand, some ISPs recommend not changing the SSID, as this can lead to authentication errors and other Wi-Fi-related problems. It is best to reset the SSID name to the default and consider using a similar name.
- Consider enabling or disabling Mac address filtering in the router settings to limit access to the Wi-Fi network by Mac addresses. If this feature is enabled, make sure your address is enabled.
- Make sure you have the correct wireless security settings (WPA/WPA2) ETC. These are special forms of authentication and encryption defined by your ISP. They provide a degree of security and confidentiality. Try one or the other and see what works best for you. You can also use applications such as Fix Wifi and Wifi App.
- Switching from one radio mode to another. 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz. 802.11a/b/g/n is the standard for most wireless communication networks.
- Channel switching can not only speed up Wi-Fi, but also reduce interference, authentication failures, and IP address conflicts. If you download the WLAN application, you can easily change the channel or do it in the backend of your router.
A simple solution to the Wi-Fi authentication error:
- Go to Wi-Fi settings and turn on airplane mode.
- Go back to the Wi-Fi settings, tap the preferred network, and then tap Forget This Network.
- Switching between flight modes disabled
- Reconnect to the Wi-Fi network, (check the password again).
What to do if your WiFi still does not connect or cannot get an IP address?
- Change the IP settings of the router. To do this, follow the instructions: Settings > Wi-Fi > Edit > Show Advanced Options, and then change the IP settings to Static.
- Find the MAC address of the S5 in Wi-fi > Settings > Advanced and check if this address is present in your router. It is best to disable MAC filtering.
- If the channel is very congested, the Wi-Fi speed will be affected. So try to go on a less crowded channel.
What should I do if the Android Wi-Fi does not turn on?
If your Android phone won’t turn on, turn off Wi-Fi and try to turn it on by turning it off, removing the phone’s battery (if the phone’s battery can be removed), and then waiting thirty seconds before turning it on again. Once the phone is turned on, turn on Wi-Fi and let the phone connect to the network. If the connection is successful, the problem is solved. You can read our complete guide on this problem: android won’t turn on or android wifi won’t turn on.
However, if it still doesn’t work, the phone’s hardware may be faulty. If the phone’s internal wiring is faulty, it will not allow a Wi-Fi connection. To solve this problem, it is advisable to take the phone to a specialist who can solve the problem. If your phone is under warranty, you can get a replacement battery if the problem cannot be fixed.
