Youtube has evolved from a well-known place for video chats to a place where millions of people come to consume information that is disseminated in different areas.
Students use it to study and understand concepts, while professionals use it to disseminate knowledge or, in some cases, to acquire knowledge. But the available content is not limited to what makes YouTube a mass consumer.
If you want to take some time off, this article mentions four methods to prevent excessive use of YouTube on your iPhone and iPad.
The steps mentioned in this manual require the use of iOS Screen Time, so make sure you upgrade your device to iOS 12 or later.

This method prevents users from downloading an application from the App Store until the restriction is lifted.
Pay attention: After setting the restriction, make sure the YouTube application has been removed from the device to prevent access.
- Open Settings and select Screen duration,
- Click on Content and Privacy Restrictions.
- Then touch Purchase from iTunes and the App Store.
- Click the Install Applications button.
- Select Do not allow.

Go to iPhone’s settings and follow the steps below.
- Select the Screen Times subsection,
- Click on Content and Privacy Restrictions.
- Now click on Content Restrictions.
- Select applications.
- Specify the desired age limit.
If you choose 12 years and older, Youtube is blocked because it has an age limit of 17 years and older. Don’t forget that all other applications that meet these criteria will also become unusable and disappear from your screen.

The above methods block YouTube, but these settings do not affect the site. To restrict access to web version 1:
- Open Settings and select Screen duration,
- Click on Content and Privacy Restrictions.
- Click on Content Restrictions.
- Click on the content of the website.
- Select adult destinations
- Under Never Allow, click on Add Website and type www..youtube.com.

If you want to limit the amount of time you spend on YouTube, rather than explicitly forbidding it, follow the steps below:
- Open Settings and select Screen duration,
- Click on Show all actions.
- You can find YouTube in the Most Used section.
- Click on the Add under limit button.
- Set the desired time frame.
If you wish, you can use the Request Limits in Screen Time function to set time limits for entire request types at once, and not just for a single request as described in the previous steps.
