The copy-paste function of Windows 10 is often taken for granted. It’s as simple as pressing Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V on your keyboard. We use it several times a day to make our work easier. Everything looks perfect until copying and pasting stops working on a Windows 10 computer. Of course, you probably disconnected and recharged the external keyboard several times. But what if it happens on a laptop?
Some users stated that copying and pasting did not work in a particular application, while others stated that it did not work in the Windows 10 operating system. Of course, I can’t list all the demands associated with this confusion. So I’m going to talk about some commonly used Microsoft applications that most people use. Of course, none of these tricks work if these switches are stuck.
Let’s get started.
Copy-In does not work under Windows Os
If you can no longer copy text, files and folders from one application to another or from anywhere on your Windows 10 computer, it’s time to take a serious and thorough look at this problem, because it affects the entire system.
1. Resetting the clipboard process with an external desktop with administrator privileges
In Windows, the Remote Desktop Clipboard process with the file name rdpclip.exe is executed every time Windows starts.
Step one: Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc on your keyboard to start the task manager and search for rdpclip.exe in the Details tab.
Step two: Can’t you find him? Click File > Run New Task and type rdpclip.exe and select Create this Task with Administrator privileges. Press the Enter key.
If the service rdpclip.exe is already active, right-click Stop Task and restart the service as described above.
Here is another way to restart the service rdpclip.exe, for those who can’t find it in Task Manager. Go to the next folder structure:

Find rdpclip.exe, right-click it and select Run as Administrator.

You’re not done yet. You also need to find and run dwm.exe with administrator privileges.
Step three: Reboot the computer and check if you can copy and paste into Windows 10 or not.
2. Reboot Windows Explorer
This closes all open applications and windows. Save all the work before you do this.
Step one: Restart Task Manager and search for Windows Explorer on the Process tab.
Step two: Right-click on it and select the Restart option.

A restart is not necessary in this case, but recommended. Check that copying and pasting works.
3. Clear Clipboard History
Removing the clipboard history and cache files can also help to correct the error.
Step one: Find and open the command line (cmd) in the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator to run it with the appropriate rights.
Step two: Type the following command and press Enter to execute it.

Step three: Restart the computer and check again if copying and pasting works.
4. Anti-Virus applications
An antivirus or malicious application may be responsible for the error. Try logging out before rechecking whether copying and pasting works. It is not necessary to disable Microsoft applications such as Windows Defender. Only disable third-party safety applications.
5. Troubleshooting
Step one: Press Windows+I to open the Settings window and search for the Keyboard Troubleshooting option in the search window. Indeed, under Windows 10 we mainly use the keyboard to copy and paste.
Step two: In the pop-up window, click on the Advanced button and select Apply automatic repair.
Step three: Click the Next button and follow the on-screen instructions.
This is also the time to check your keyboard for damage or defects. You can also right-click and copy a text or URL to see if it works.
Copy and paste does not work in Windows applications 10
There are too many applications on the Windows platform and it’s not easy to cover them all. If the problem is limited to the selected application, have you tried to reinstall it? Always install applications from the Microsoft Store instead of downloading the executable file from thumbnail sources.
1. Send to Bluetooth extension
This solution is designed for Microsoft Office users. Unplug the optional Bluetooth device if you have one installed and see if it helps.
2. Webroot Security software
If you use one of their products, you may get a copy-paste problem. Open Webroot and go to Identity Protection > Application Protection and find an application that cannot copy and paste. Set to allow it. I also advise you to uncheck the Protect Clipboard Data option at this point.
3. Skype Click to call.
The Skype Click to Call plugin allows you to make Skype calls directly from your browser. The same plugin is responsible for copy-paste problems in the browser and even in Windows. Remove the plugin and see if it helps.
