Plitvice lakes are a National Park located in Croatia, with around 90 waterfalls and 16 shallow Lakes which is where the name of these Lakes come from. It’s interesting to know that the number of Lakes throughout the years changed, since some of them are disappearing, while others are forming. This is due to its live fauna and microorganisms as well is calcium carbonate that can be found in the water, and that directly affects forming of new stones and dissolving of the old ones. At the same time, the unparalleled colour of these lakes comes from different types of algae that grow inside of them as well as other microorganisms that are determining many parameters of the water, not just the color.
